The Cottage

The cottage is very spacious and well kept.

Tony and Dawn are lovely people and made us very welcome. The beds are comfortable but the sofas were not, with no back support at all, hence my lower mark. The kitchen and bathrooms are large and well equipped.

Overall a nice space with clear directions.

The folder of useful information was helpful and the owners seemed lovely. The kitchen had most of the things we needed but the tea and coffee canisters were empty so we had to Deliveroo our morning coffee. The coffee machine just leaked when we tried to use it. The en-suite bathroom had lots of large drain flies which suggests cleaning needed. The property didn’t seem to have been properly cleaned. The floors were very dirty and lots of cobwebs around. One of the lamps in the second bedroom also did not work. The actual space and decor was nice but more cleaning and maintenance is needed.

This is a stunning property - high-end, with lots of space and a private garden.

We just did a quick overnight, and ended up using the sofa bed too, which was comfortable. Great for dogs. Marking down on facilities and maintenance as there was an issue with the property alarms going off in the early morning - also there wasn't actually a bin interior in one of the bathroom bins! Lovely setting,very dog friendly.

Large property with a nice shaded garden. A half hour drive to beautiful dog friendly beaches. Loads of other great places to explore and visit nearby. I would just recommend that the property provides fans as we were there in 30c heat all week, luckily we’d taken our own with otherwise the heat would have been unbearable.

A wonderful location, well equipped property, and well laid out.

Nice to have a private garden that was secure for the dog. Very quiet with plenty of flora and fauna around.

The Cottage was very spacious and we were very impressed with it.

The beds were extremely comfortable and excellent showers. Dawn introduced herself when we arrived and was very friendly and helpful. It's in an ideal location for visiting Poole, Bournemouth and other attractions. Little Pickle at the Mill is really worth visiting if you enjoy local crafts and the cafe is excellent. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have already booked to return next year.

Dawn and Tony are very welcoming and are on hand if you need anything. The property is always clean and well equipped. With plenty of space for parking .We love the size of the Peaceful garden it's great for our large dog . We will keep returning for our twice yearly trips to Dorset.

A lovely clean and spacious cottage.

We were travelling with a little one with severe allergies and the owners worked hard to make the cottage clean and safe for our stay. We loved being out in the countryside and watching the squirrels play in the trees each morning. We hope to return sometime. Thanks very much.

We were disappointed with the dirty microwave, smelt of curry, and sauce splashed at the back of microwave, also , dirty side plate and bowl , had curry sauce on , had to clean myself, the dishcloths and scourers were fit for the bin , would have thought new ones should have been left not over used ones that smelt bad , but we had a lovely stay , it’s the second time we stayed here , first time was brilliant.

The property was lovely, spacious and comfortable, and we appreciated the little touches for the dogs.

The garden was great, and secure, and the tennis court looks new. Some of the kitchen equipment would benefit from being replaced and some instructions regarding the temperature control would be helpful. Fabulous bathrooms, great to have parking, privacy and peace and quiet. Sykes Cottages not great at responding to queries on the Vrbo app.

Lovely, warm and comfortable accommodation.

Very peaceful but close to amenities. Only noise at night was the wildlife! Friendly communicative hosts on site. Only minor negatives, could benefit from door hooks behind bedroom and bathroom doors. Shower and bath rather slippy so either provide plastic bath mats or install grab rails. But generally first class accommodation.

Fantastic accommodation, everything we needed for a wonderful week.

The owner, Dawn, was very approachable and extremely helpful. The property was clean and well equipped and within easy reach of both Bournemouth and Poole in addition to beautiful Wimborne Minster. We hope to return next year.

We found The Cottage to be beautifully warm & welcoming.

From comfortable seating & beds to the modern clean bathrooms and well equipped kitchen, although it might have been useful to know beforehand what make of coffee pods to bring in order to make best use of the coffee machine during our stay. We knew the owners were there if we needed them but not intrusive. Very happy to have a chat when our paths did cross. It’s a lovely quiet location. All in all, we thoroughly recommend.

Lovely spacious accommodation in a lovely quiet area!

The hosts were super responsive and helpful. However, the coffee machine hasn’t been cleaned and has several coffee pods jammed inside which we managed to get out, there was no salt or pepper and only one blanket in the property.

My daughter and I had a fabulous short break here with our dog.

The cottage is airy, light and spacious all round and well equipped. Good showers, a big bath and good water pressure even with both showers in use at same time. The beds and sofas were comfy and a really nice kitchen thats well equipped. The garden a good size and secure for our dog. One of the gates was quite low, not a problem for us but if you've got a bigger dog inclined to jump out then this might be an issue but it was fine for us. I do believe it is mentioned in the cottage listing though. A mat with 2 nice dog bowls and a dog towel was provided and there was a good little shower hose outside front door to wash off dogs if necessary. The location was generally peaceful and quiet with plenty of good walking opportunities nearby. One small point was the floor is laminated throughout and in some places this was quite creaky to walk on, waking my daughter in the night when I got up. The main house and the 2 rental properties surround a courtyard, the front of the property has large floor to ceiling windows overlooking the courtyard and parking area, with the other rental property at 90 degrees there is a view directly into both properties. This is fairly obvious from the listing photos and we were aware of this, it's not a complaint from us, the positioning of the furniture etc means its not really noticeable for the humans, but might be a consideration if like us you have a dog thats a bit triggered by movement and dogs and people she doesn't know. There are vertical blinds over the windows and door which we chose to keep shut to prevent our dog making a nuisance of herself when the other guests were going in or out or just sitting minding their own business, with their dog in the other property. This obviously blocked the light a bit too but it's a problem with our dogs reactivity rather than a fault with the property. So this may be a consideration if you have a reactive dog. We would certainly stay here if we were in the area again as its lovely property.

Delighted with The Cottage.

! It was extremely spacious and furnished and fitted out to a high standard. Bedrooms and bathrooms were similarly large and nicely equipped. Nicely out of the way from the hustle and bustle of Bournemouth. Check in/access was well thought out and efficient although it would have been nice to have seen the owners at some point just for a 'hello' etc. We were lucky with the weather so we had a lovely time and we will definitely consider visiting again when we visit our daughter in the future.

A couple of weeks since our second stay of the year and as always the perfect place with fantastic friendly owners.

Cottage was immaculate. Looking forward to next spring already

The property was lovely lots of space, we were asked to leave it as we found it.

The floors and tops of table, the kitchen counters were covered in a fine grit, which we cleaned when we arrived. Also the heating was controlled it would of been nice just to put it the heating on when we arrived home of an evening. But it was still a lovely cottage and the area was outstanding for us with two dogs, the heath was just over the road, and all major sites of interest were close buy. I would be happy to return.

Love this cottage, lovely touch leaving a bottle of wine and milk for our arrival too.

They even gave us some extra seating for the garden. Love the tennis court and we were left with rackets and balls so we could play. Owners are friendly and will help with anything you need. Lovely quite area and close enough to go on day trips to Bournemouth, Poole quay and Ringwood.

Only minor complaint - no shelf or soap rack to place shampoos etc in showers.

Otherwise, a lovely cottage, fully equipped and beautiful, peaceful surroundings.

This was our 5th stay at "The Cottage.

" We discovered this absolute gem in May 23 and from then we have booked twice a year ! I'm pleased to say the property is a good now as when we first came . The location is lovely and peaceful and is a great base to discover Dorset! The garden is large great for kids and dogs ! The property is clean ,spacious and the kitchen has everything you need . The hosts Dawn and Tony are Fantastic..really friendly and very dog friendly! And are around if needed. We now consider this our second home! Can't wait to come back !!!!

Wonderful holiday accommodation.

Everything we needed and more! The dog loved the garden and the cottage looks even bigger in person compared to the photos. We will definitely be staying here again!

A lovely annex in a quiet area.

Modern , clean and bright. Comfortable beds and lovely big showers. Stayed in January when weather was cold but cosy and warm inside. Owners next door but respected our privacy. Close to the outskirts of town so good location.

We had a lovely stay over the Christmas and New Year period.

The house was decorated with a tree and the outside looked spectacular with twinkling lights in abundance. Very spacious, comfortable and warm. The location is very peaceful too and only a short drive from shops, petrol stations and pubs. There was an issue for a few days with hot water but this was quickly resolved to our complete satisfaction. Tony and Dawn, the owners, live next door and are on hand if needed. I did not raise at the time as we have access to a home nearby for anything we need, but I would flag there is only one saucepan which has a lid which is inadequate, and perhaps an addition of a larger Pyrex type dish or two would be useful for anyone wanted to cook a roast with all the trimmings. We loved our stay and the property and hope we are fortunate to stay again in the future.

Although a short stay we had a fantastic, very comfortable stay.

Property was excellently presented, with very comfortable beds. Great location, we will be back.

Yet another lovely stay at this wonderful property!

It's feeling like our second home, we return here year after year. It was our 4th stay! The location is just fantastic and very peaceful, The property is always clean and is very spacious...exactly as it looks in the photos, Which suits us and our dog! We will be back next year for our 2 holidays!! We look forward to seeing Dawn the host as much as we look forward to our stay!

We stayed at the Cottage for 2 weeks as my brother and his wife live near by and it was a good base to meet up and go places.

There was 4 adults,1 child and 1 dog, the accommodation was big and spacious with 2 large comfortable beds and a peaceful, enclosed private garden, with access to the tennis court which the host happily supplied the rackets and tennis ball. Dawn and Tony were very friendly and accommodating, nothing was to much trouble, Dawn even cleaned, changed our bed sheets and changed our towels half way through our stay All in all it was a fabulous holiday and hopefully we will be able to come back next year. I would definitely recommend the cottage.

Lovely place to stay, nice and quite to relax but also not far from lots of places to visit.

The owners allowed us to use their tennis court and had all the equipment required and this was a lot of family fun. The dog had as much fun in the enclosed garden. Not far from the big stores and Bournemouth beach about 15 minutes drive. Poole and sandbanks not far either. Owners were very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend.

Overall superb break!

Great location! Superb for those who want an 'away from town' experience. Not so great for those without their own transport. In Early July - we felt we would have preferred accommodation warmer in the evenings which turned cooler...regularly.. Our dog loved the space & freedom of the accommodation as indeed did we a family group of four. Hosts were attentive, but not intrusive - Overall we had excellent sleep - though my partner felt bed in 'main ' bed- room uncomfortable though wonderfully wide. We are both in our 70's and would have preferred good quality 'toppers'. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely cottage in an elite area. Beautiful setting, very peaceful with enclosed garden. Good base for visiting many places and the fabulous beaches. Cottage was lovely, very spacious and comfortable. We had a lovely mini break, the property is spacious with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds.

The location was ideal for the places we wanted to visit with a variety of places to eat out locally. Would recommend for a nice peaceful stay in a pretty location.

We had a great weekend break at 'The Cottage' we were welcomed by Dawn, a beautiful house, with every amenity you could wish for.

The owners were super attentive. We had a small issue which was resolved within minutes (no tea towel). We used this as a base to explore the local area including Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth and Portland. There were loads of local walks for our German shepherd. We did not want to go home. We would highly recommend this place and will book again in the future.

We have just returned after spending the weekend in The Cottage.

The property was definitely 5 star*, we were made very welcome nothing was too much trouble. The property was spacious and clean and in a beautiful setting. Close to several beauty spots. Our dogs loved it too lovely walks nearby. Would not hesitate in returning and would definitely recommend The Cottage!!

A fantastic peaceful location close to all amenities.

This was our third stay at property and as always was immaculate. Owners very friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to our next trip later in year.

Had a lovely time at The Cottage.

Our main reason for choosing it was the garden as we were holidaying with our Labrador and it was great for her! Fab to come home after a busy day to sit out and relax. House itself was great too. Showers were fab!!! Everything you need is there, perfect base for all our trips to the surrounding area. Hosts are on site if any queries. Definitely recommend and we hope to be back in the future!

Fantastic property, very spacious, modern and comfortable in a very quiet location.

The Cottage is warm and comfortable and very peaceful, a perfect place to unwind.

The kitchen could perhaps use a few more utensils and serving bowls. The garden is enclosed but shady with large trees, but loveiy to watch the squirrels in the Autumn. We would recommend a stay at the Cottage and will definitely return, thank you Dawn.

Second trip of the year to The Cottage and looking forward to next years stays.

Dawn is a great host and property is ideal for getting to all the places we wanted to get to. Even with bad weather it’s a spacious and peaceful place to stay and relax in.

Very comfortable stay--arraigned good weather--a few more instructions needed for TV [for a technophobe]--very good kitchen but needed a few more cooking dishes ie pyrex bowls to microwave my porridge.

I/we would recommend this cottage as it was comfortable and near to local attractions and sea

Spacious comfortable cottage.

Very clean. Excellent location. Very friendly owners. Enclosed garden was appreciated by our active dog! Bed in second bedroom needs safer fixings to stop it slipping on laminate flooring.

Spacious ground floor accommodation in a lovely area, plenty of hot water, and very friendly hosts who didn't interupt our stay.

We booked to share The Cottage with friends, and had a wonderful week exploring the Dorset area. Due to the construction of the property every sound carried, and with no carpets or curtains to absorb this, some of us didn't sleep so well despite the really comfortable beds. A little maintenance on the garden table and a few more cooking/eating utensils would have made out stay even more comfortable, and saved the owners money on fewer dishwasher cycles! Thank you for letting us stay!

We had a fabulous relaxing week away.

The accommodation catered well for all 3 of us and our dog. We found some great places to walk the dog and spent most of our time near Christchurch as the beaches there were mostly dog friendly and beautiful sand. We found the facilities at the accommodation perfect for us with a good selection of items in the kitchen. Highly recommend as a fabulous space to relax.

We loved our stay at The Cottage!

It's very spacious with a Great sized Garden for our dog! It's very peaceful in the surroundings. The property was clean and kitchen was equipped with everything you needed. I'm from Dorset originally so it served us as a great base for our visits. We've finally found our "Home from Home!" we are booked again in September and will from now on be staying here in the future! Dawn was lovely!! and I'm looking forward to chatting to her again in September. THANK YOU.

We had a very relaxed stay at the cottage and felt at home instantly.

The surroundings are beautiful and the accommodation was clean and spacious. Our host was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and family.

Generally good but the headboard in Bedroom 2 was not fitted and had castors on the bed so it moved.

There was also no coffee in the container and one pod for the coffee machine.

Dawn made us feel so very welcome, it was a lovely week spent in a beautiful setting.

Would definitely book again as a base in Bournemouth.

Both are Families really needed a break and this Property was above and beyond what we were expecting.
