“This was a fantastic property, very clean, a beautiful location and very comfortable inside with lots of little additional extras like a cozy throw for the sofa, relaxing low level lighting, games, DVDs and little touches like shopping bags and an umbrella.”

We really appreciated the complementary hamper too. We also found parking easy and the information provided on this was good. The only negatives for us were that the Sky box did not work the whole time were there (it kept displaying no signal despite our attempts the reboot it) so we just watched DVDs. Also, the latch on the apartment door was a little sticky and we thought we were stuck inside at one point! We really enjoyed our stay though and would stay here again. Thank you

“We absolutely loved the Captain’s Retreat apartment.”

It is absolutely stunning. The owners have thought of everything and much more to make your stay perfect. The entrance to the property is very underwhelming however when you step through the door of the apartment it is a real wow moment. The welcome basket, tea and coffee and milk in the fridge are such thoughtful touches after a very long drive. The weather wasn’t great but we loved sitting at the windows watching the world go by - very relaxing. The only tiny negative was a small water leak at the base of the toilet which the owners are trying their best to sort out and the size of the bathroom. We were prepared for this as it is mentioned in the details and reviews so not an issue at all. We had fun fitting my 6ft3 husband in the shower! We would highly recommend this property and cannot wait to stay again.

“Captain's Retreat is a wonderful apartment for two.”

The owners are very thoughtful and there was a welcome pack and flowers on our arrival. The furnishing and decoration are restful and tasteful and there wasn't anything we needed that wasn't provided - beach towels, beach chairs, a windbreak, binoculars were all available as well as a really good set of kitchen equipment. There is a great outlook over the beach and sea. Although it is on the busy esplanade we were never bothered by the noise and the bedroom is at the back and very quiet. The bed is very comfy and we slept really well whilst there. We had no trouble with the stairs ( it is second floor) but be aware there are quite a few. Altogether a wonderful week.

Ideal situation for bus stops and the train station. Well equipped and spent hours looking out to sea with the binoculars. Really comfortable bed. Public areas (stairs) could do with a freshen up. Brilliant welcome pack.

“A very nice apartment, nicely maintained and overlooking the beach.”

It is centrally located and therefore within reach of most facilities. We also visited Dorchester by bus (bus stop just outside the door), Lyme Regis (a beautiful spot) by car, and Sherborne again by car. All well worth a visit. An enjoyable holiday.

I stayed there 23-30 March 2024. The sea views are incredible, it's near the shops, buses are literally at the front door which is important for me, because I stay in Weymouth without a car. To be honest I never slept in a more comfortable bed and the shower was great too: two very important aspects that can make or break a week away! I totally recommend Captain's Retreat and would like to thank Justin and Elaine for creating such a wonderful place in my good old and very dear Weymouth. “Captains Retreat is a lovely apartment, with a view over the beach.”

The rooms are spacious, and very comfortable, although the shower/toilet is a little cramped. The standard of cleanliness, and the quality of all of the decor, fittings and furniture is first class, Absolutely everything that you could want or need during your stay is provided, and having a few basics provided in the fridge and kitchen are very welcome.This was my second visit…….and I would definitely come back again!

“Our time at the captain’s retreat was excellent, its location is superb and the flat is lovely.”

Our experience was without fault or issue and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a relaxing/enjoyable time in Weymouth. The flat has all the facilities and good Wi-Fi, I could even work from there. The welcome hamper was a really nice touch, and thats how the owners role, they think of everything and know the little things make all the difference.

“The Captains Retreat was our perfect place to stay.”

After busy days exploring the beautiful coastline, it was lovely to know we were returning every night to such awonderful apartment. Exceptionally clean, very spacious and tastefully decorated with everything we could possibly need during our stay. The owners were very thoughtful in leaving a fantastic hamper of treats for our arrival which we appreciated so much after travelling a long way. There was even pillow mist for a relaxing night's sleep. Everything was organised so well. Nothing was too much trouble. Upon our arrival, because the owners were still in the vicinity of the apartment, they helped us find a good parking space outside. The area is very busy as it is a popular location. We did manage to park every evening on our return and used the free parking permit provided at the apartment. On a morning, we ate breakfast on the dining table overlooking the beach and the views were fabulous. I especially liked the Quay and harbour part of Weymouth which is very pretty. I would love to return to the property one day if we were visiting this area again.

“Absoulty wonderful and spacious appartment overlooking Weymouths beach.”

Equipped with everything you'll need during your stay. The open plan lounge and kitchen is functional and comfortable, with ever changing views you get for the many windows over looking the sea. The bedroom with its huge comfy bed is large and airy. The large built in wardrobes will accommodate all those extra clothes that you didn't need to take. Little touches throughout the appartment have been carefully thought of, with a jurassic coast wall art and fossil decor. My review doesn't do justice to this appartment but I certainly hope to return one day.

“Stunning property with equally stunning views.”

Superb facilities, spotlessly clean and everything you'd need for a self catering holiday. Easy beach access which is literally a few feet ouside the front door and within easy reach of all Weymouth has to offer. The owners Justin & Elaine are very friendly and communicated all the check in information well in advance of arrival. There is also a comprehensive info booklet in the property which was very handy. The property is on the second floor and there are some steps that lead up to it but this is far outweighed by what you get once inside. All in all a superb holiday and we are already looking at dates to return in 2024. Many thanks John & Andrea

“What a lovely apartment, clean, modern, homely and well equipped.”

Everything we could have wanted was provided by the thoughtful owners, Justin and Elaine, who obviously want to give their guests the best experience. Location is great, lovely views of the beach, close to shops, numerous restaurants and the harbour. This was a great base for visiting Dorset"s many attractions but apartment roomy and comfortable enough to stay in and chill out, relax and enjoy the board games provided if you prefer. Yes there are quite a few steps up to the apartment but this is described in the summary for CR so should not come as any surprise and the views from the front windows make the climb worthwhile. What a gem, thank you J & E for sharing your beautiful apartment and for your kind treats on arrival, all much appreciated.

“How often do you step into your holiday home and go WOW?”

? The Captain's Retreat will make you do that. It's in an ideal location for the town, harbour, seafront and all the varied eating places on offer. The views from the front windows are simply amazing. The apartment is furnished to a high standard. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The bedroom is huge and the bed is really comfortable. Everything you need is provided so it's truly a home from home. Communication with the owners is excellent, and to top it all off there's a very, very generous welcome basket. I can't fault this place and will definitely be returning at some point in the future.

“We’ve just enjoyed an amazing holiday at Captain’s Retreat!”

The 40 stairs up to the apartment might be a problem for some but the fabulous views of Weymouth bay are well worth the effort. The apartment is beautifully appointed and absolutely everything had been catered for including an incredibly thoughtful and generous welcome pack. The furnishings are top quality and so comfortable and we loved the “seaside” theme. Everything is absolutely spotlessly clean and fresh. The owners Justin and Elaine kept in touch via text before, during and after our stay to make sure we were happy with everything which made us feel especially welcome and we appreciated the personal contact. We can thoroughly recommend “Captain’s Retreat and would love to return in the not too distant future.

“All I can say is how marvelous this accommodation is.”

The hosts have really made a huge effort to ensure that every possible comfort and necessity is catered for. I particularly appreciated the drinks in the fridge, and the basket of goodies in the kitchen. almost every time you opened up a cupboard, there would be another, unexpected surprise. The view over the beach is superb, though I guess it may be a little noisier in high summer. The only thing I would say is that the bathroom hand basin is tiny, and impractical for a gentleman to shave in. Also, be aware that although the hosts leave instructions to empty rubbish into the bin outside, the bin itself can only be opened an inch or two, so placing a bag of rubbish into it is quite a challenge. Upon arrival, the communal entrance hall and stairways don't look very promising, and there are a lot of stairs to negotiate, if, like me, you have a heavy suitcase. Don't be put off by this, though, as the flat is amazing, and you will love every minute of your stay here.

All the furnishings are top quality and so comfortable with many extras. As it is on the 3rd floor there are excellent views of the bay. It is on the seafront so all the shops and amenities are close to hand too. Furthest is a 5 minute walk to the harbour.
