“This is a lovely little cottage but it really is ‘little’.”

It was spotlessly clean with lots of welcoming extras including a bottle of wine. The garden is good for dogs. Our main problem was the size of the wash basin in the bathroom. You can’t even clean your teeth without spilling water everywhere, never mind try to wash. If you had a small child it would be really difficult. There's room for a normal size basin so please upgrade it, as it is, it really lets the property down and is the reason for our low rating. Parking was fine as there was only one other car but I wouldn’t like to be there when 6 people are in the cottage next door. Please also check out the mirror on the road, it’s useless and you absolutely must have someone guiding you out.

The property

Little Ivy is a pretty thatched Grade II listed cottage dating back 400 hundred years, situated in the heart of West Lulworth, one of the most popular villages along the coast in Dorset.

It is semi-detached to Ivy Cottage. Little Ivy can accommodate up to three guests in two bedrooms, both on the first floor.

With living area and electric fire, dining table and well-equipped kitchen it’s a perfect holiday home for a couple or small family.

Just a second away from the cottage is The Castle Inn, pet friendly pub with a lovely garden.

Just a few minutes stroll from the property is Lulworth Cove with stunning and geologically unique cove.

Make sure to try out tempting seafood shacks (all seasonal) with locally caught fish and crab.

You can taste one of the best ice creams from the small local shops.

Here also you will find quite a few pubs serving food with beautiful views. Once you in a cove, you will find yourself right on the South West Coastal Path with abundance of walks to both directions.

One will lead you to Weymouth via arguably most photographed place in the UK – Durdle Door arc and if you venture further, you will be taking one of the most challenging walks through the rolling clifftops with most beautiful scenery around; rolling Dorset countryside on one side and sea from the other with the sight of the Isle of Portland leading the way.

Take a trip to a picturesque Corfe Castle village, enjoy delicious cream teas and take awalk around this lovely village.

Corfe Castle ruins is one of Britain's most iconic survivors of the English Civil War and offers fantastic Dorset countryside views around.

Holiday days can be filled with activities such as a boat ride along the coast, walking along the coastline searching for fossils or exploring the many geological and historical sites nearby.

If you don’t want to eat out, return to the cottage and dine alfresco in the garden.

Spend your holiday in a pretty cottage with your loved one and enjoy exploring the beautiful Jurassic coast.

About the location

WEST LULWORTH

Wareham 9.1 miles; Weymouth 14.7 miles

West Lulworth boasts some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit at the heart of this area and really are a must see. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beachside shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.

Note: off road allocated parking for ONE small/medium vehicle only (size restriction of 5m length x 2.25m width with an entrance drive width of 2.8m). Nearest public pay and display car park is Lulworth Cove BH20 5RS (approximately 15 min walk)
Note: please be aware gardeners will be attending the property intermittently throughout the year for essential garden maintenance and will require access to the outbuildings.
