The property

Ivy Cottage is a lovely thatched Grade II listed cottage dating from 1600s which sits on the village road leading to Lulworth Cove in Dorset.

It is semi-detached to its sister cottage Little Ivy. Situated in the heart of West Lulworth, one of the most popular villages along the coast in Dorset, Ivy Cottage retains many features such as original beams and the inglenook fireplace in the living area - now with a cosy log burner.

The property is lovely, clean, feels spacious and is in a great location.

The garden is secured with a great area to sit and relax after a days’ walking.

The house is kitted out very well, a real 'home from home'.

The property welcomes two well-behaved dogs. Just a few minutes stroll from the property is Lulworth Cove, famous for its geologically unique and beautiful cove.

Walking down to the cove you will find tempting seasonal shops and kiosks including those specialising in ice cream, fudge and sea food.

Just a short walk away is the South West Coast Path, where you have a choice of directions offering fantastic views and scenery.

Make sure to check opening times to nearby Range walks for access to Fossil Forest and ghost village Tyneham and further along the coast path.

Alternatively, you can take a drive around and visit beautiful Chapman’s Pool, Kimmeridge bay where you can look for some fossils and admire different landscape with Jurassic coast rocks. Just a second away from the cottage, The Castle Inn is a pet friendly pub and has a cosy garden.

A visit to famous Durdle Door, an iconic rock formation rising from the sea and resembling a doorway, is a must.

It also has a popular beach offering snorkelling and cliff walks.

A kayak tour can be arranged locally from Lulworth Cove and it's an experience to treasure as you are shown secret little pools, fossils and beaches accessed via sea only.

Weymouth in the West and Swanage in the East are both traditional seaside towns around half an hour's drive away and perfect for a day trip.

After a fun filled day why not eat alfresco in the enclosed garden whilst enjoying the last of the day's sun. Don’t forget your camera at home – you will want to make some memories from this holiday with your family or friends whilst exploring gorgeous Jurassic coast.

About the location

WEST LULWORTH

Wareham 9.1 miles; Weymouth 14.7 miles

West Lulworth boasts some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit at the heart of this area and really are a must see. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beachside shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.
