“Bransmead is a clean, well equipped house with an attentive owner .”

The location is excellent for us and very peaceful. The only drawback is the sitting room where the position of the tv to the sofas makes it hard for more than 2 people to be comfortable. It hasn’t stopped me booking twice but I may hesitate over a third booking . It the only drawback in an otherwise great house that meets all our needs which is a shame .

It was comfortable and quite roomy. The garden was a lovely sunny space. The bedrooms and sitting rooms were good and again, quite spacious. The location was ideal for walking to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. The owner of the property was very helpful and friendly. We would be very happy to stay there again.

“Mike the owner sent us a text at 13.”

16pm to say Bransmead was ready for us and we could go in early. On arrival the house hadn't been correctly prepared - bed in ensuite bedroom not made properly, dirty worktops, dirty floors in kitchen/hall, dirty carpets, fridge/freezer unclean, dirty/broken recycling bin etc. etc. So, as we didn't want to complain to Mike as he had always been so nice and helpful, our holiday began by cleaning the place up. We have been to many Sykes places before and never had problems like this. In spite of these problems must say the house is in a superb location for everything and the off street parking is a plus. The beds were very comfortable, but the sofas and armchair are very tired and uncomfortable. Also the stairs are very steep/slippery and would not be suitable for the elderly or infirm.

“We had a great time at Bransmead.”

Lovely location. Having off street parking was a massive plus (and needed). The owner (Mike) was great we had two minor issues that were resolved within minutes. All of the facilities worked perfectly (heating / hot water etc), and the beds were comfortable.

“Had a problem with shower in bathroom.”

Couldn't get the water hot enough and so sometimes used ensuite shower, but there was 5 of us.This was reported a few times but nothing was done about it. Plumber was called to drains as toilets water levels were rising up when flushed but didn't deal with shower. Otherwise nice accommodation.

“Good holiday accommodation for family of 6; might not suit 3 couples due to 2 twin rooms.”

However 3 toilets is a blessing. Drive does take 2 cars, just. Good fairly quiet location, nice decking for sitting or eating outside. Contained garden if taking young children or dog. Easy walk 15 mins to Lulworth Cove, though some pavements lacking in village (use footpath just up Binden Road). Accommodation is good 4* (not 5*) as reflected in price. Good communication from Sykes and excellent from owner, thanks.

“Lovely property and location.”

Was a bit of a push to get our 2 cars on the driveway but just about managed it.Also not that easy to get out with my S Max and Kia Sportage as a little bigger than a Corsa or Fiesta which I noticed in a photo of the property.Didn’t want to park on the road as quite narrow.The house is very comfortable for a family of 6 and nice garden for children to play in.Beds very comfortable and kitchen well kitted out.We enjoyed our stay at Bransmead.Very lucky with the weather.

“Generally a lovely property.”

We had a few issues with hot water and showering, couldn’t adjust temperature on the 2 shower units, 1 was cold and 1 was extremely hot. Some of the dinner plates were cracked and chipped.

“A very enjoyable week’s break with the family in an ideal location.”

Easy access to the coastal path and to Swanage, Weymouth and the tank museum. Facilities in the house were very good once we acclimatised to the oily smell with excellent storage space in the bedrooms. Just one concern from the female members is the surprise that the bathroom window doesn’t have frosted glass! However it would not stop us considering returning to the property again

“A superb holiday property, Mike the owner could not have been more helpful with an excellent description of the property and the area sent to us well in advance of our holiday.”

The location is excellent, with easy access to all the local places of interest and only a few minutes walk to a lovely pub called the Castle. We had a lovely holiday and if we get another dog and do self catering again, Bransmead will be top of our list.

“We loved the cottage .”

Lots of space. The garden was a good size and safe, the children loved playing in it. Bedrooms spacious and beds very comfortable. The kitchen quite spacious could have done with more cooking dishes, Pyrex bowls etc. The owner Mike was easy to contact when a problem with the boiler occurred and immediately did everything in his power to solve the problem. Overall a fab. stay. We would go back and definitely recommend.

“Bransmead was in a great location, quiet and amongst beautiful countryside but a short walk to Lulworth Cove.”

The house has great facilities. The owner's communication was first class and the six pages of information he gave was invaluable. One small improvement would be if either there was a plug socket near to a mirror or an extension lead so that the hairdryer lead allowed access to a mirror.

“A wonderful spacious house within easy walking distance of Lulworth Cove and the beautiful coastal path, and set amongst the pretty thatched cottages of the village close to a shop, pub and restaurants.”

The house was tastfully furnished and generously equipped, including a spotlessly clean Kitchen with induction hob and superfast WiFi. “This was our second stay at Bransmead, and just as enjoyable as our first.”

House is perfectly located for village, beach and pubs, and very comfortably furnished and equipped (We are often a bit disappointed by kitchen equipment in holiday rentals - not here though!). Mike, the owner, was again very accessible and helpful, and nice addition this time round of some printed out local walks - especially recommend the Smuggler's Inn walk at Osmington Mills. Already very keen to visit again.

“Cottage is in a fantastic location - ideally situated for Lulworth Cove and for Durdle Door.”

Really well equipped kitchen. Lounge is probably smaller than appears on the photos - we filled it as a family of 4 (2 teenagers) so maybe a squash for 6 adults. The owner, Mike, was super helpful throughout and great communication - even went to check on our supermarket delivery when we were delayed with traffic on the way down. Castle Inn in the village is very good - download the app before you arrive to make ordering easier - and takeout pizzas good too. Very hot week - a more extensive sunshade and loungers might just complete what was a really pleasant stay in a beautiful part of Dorset. Recommend also Burton Bradstock and the Hive Beach Cafe, as well as Ringstead beach, again with good beach cafe. Thanks so much, Mike!

Location is great - 10-15 mins easy walk down to the cove, and many other great walks (recommend the ridge behind the village for amazing views - follow the track at the junction opposition entrance to Lulworth Camp) Two lovely pubs - both v well set up to be Covid safe. “Wonderful holiday home in a beautiful location with everything nearby within walking distance.”

On arrival we found a thoughtful welcome card and goodies for us and our dog which were much appreciated. The cottage has three good sized bedrooms and the double bedded room has its own en-suite with shower. There is a good sized bathroom with shower upstairs and a cloakroom with toilet downstairs. The utility room is ideal for storing your boots, shoes and coats and has a large fridge freezer and washing machine. The snug is good if you have children or teenagers who want to watch something different on TV. The living room is cosy and comfortable with a log fire and it was an added bonus coming home from long days out to watch Sky cinema. There is a good sized dining table looking out over the well enclosed garden. There is a lovely seating area in the garden which catches the afternoon sun, there was a patio heater which we didn’t need but ideal for cooler summer evenings. The kitchen has everything you could need away from home, plenty of crockery and cutlery including a good sized oven, hob, fridge and microwave, coffee maker, milk frother...the list goes on. Bransmead is located close (2 mins) to a pub called the Castle Inn which serves fab food and local ales/ciders. You can take an easy walk from the cottage to Lulworth Cove such a beautiful place to take in the sea air and scenery or to Durdledor. We found the cottage to be a good base to go and visit Corfu Castle, Swanage, Weymouth, Wareham, Wool, Studland Bay and Durdledoor. It is not far from the tank museum and monkey world too. Mike the owner was very friendly with informative emails and texts to help our week away. We had a fantastic much needed break away in a wonderful location and would highly recommend this property.

Due to Sykes cottages not giving refunds we chose to go September. We had a fantastic holiday with brilliant weather and Bransmead we couldn't fault. It was clean, well equipped and a good place to explore Dorset. Wish I could have fetched my bed home with me, the bottle of wine and treats for the dogs were really appreciated.

Less than a 15 minute walk to Lulworth Cove. Was surprised by all the amenities available at the property and my sons loved the availability of Disney Cinema. The bedrooms are larger than I expected as well, so if you had a baby as well, lots of room for a cot in two of the rooms. The local pub the Castle Inn served fantastic food and were very friendly. Only a short drive away is Williams Bakery, well worth making a visit for the cream cakes and fresh bread.

“Everything had been done to ensure that our stay at Bransmead would be comfortable and enjoyable.”

The cottage is spacious, extremely well equipped, newly decorated and very clean. Having the main bathroom, the en-suite shower room and the downstairs toilet was a real plus for our group of 4 adults. Mike, the owner contacted us on booking and made sure we had all the information we needed. The location was ideal for Lulworth Cove and visiting other gems in the surrounding area. The garden was quiet and great for relaxing and dining al fresco. Neighbours were all friendly and helpful. There is off road parking for two cars. While Lulworth Cove was very busy at the bank holiday weekend, we discovered a lovely pub, The Halfway Inn, on A351 near Arne. We would be very happy to stay at Bransmead again and thoroughly recommend it to others.

“Bransmead is such a lovely property, very well thought out and has everything a family could possibly need making it home from home.”

The location is excellent, extremely picturesque. I went with my family and our dog for a week, could have stayed for two, none of us were ready to return home. West Lulworth is in a great position, lots to see and do around the area and just a short Walk to a Londis store and Lulworth Cove which hosts many shops and cafes. This area is extremely dog friendly, dogs are welcome in the pubs and cafes in the area. Mike, the owner of the property, is very attentive, nothing is too much trouble for him. We had a perfect relaxing break and will definitely return next year.

“We really enjoyed our stay at Bransmead.”

The house is spacious and very comfortable and families with children will really appreciate the snug room with an extra TV! We found the beds and sofas very comfortable and the house spotlessly clean. The location was a real bonus and we didn't need to get in the car at all, the house being just a short walk down to Lulworth Cove but far enough off the main road for it to be quiet at the house. There's a very well stocked village store 5 minutes walk away and with the other good places to eat in the village we really didn't need to go anywhere else.

About the location

WEST LULWORTH

Wareham 9.1 miles; Weymouth 14.7 miles

West Lulworth boasts some of the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coastline and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit at the heart of this area and really are a must see. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beachside shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.
