“The location of Nuke in the quiet mews, coupled with the sheltered parking across from the house, is very secure and absolutely perfect.”
We have stayed in these cottages several times, but this was our first visit to Nuke. There were issues (in no particular order):
The fridge/freezer is unserviceable and should be replaced because it is switched down to 'low' by the cleaners and takes a couple of days to return to proper freezing temperature. Milk was going off within 24 hours, the freezer was solid with ice but ice-cream would melt in 12 hours.
The dishwasher is a tad temperamental; sometimes it works and sometimes it decides to go on holiday for 8 hours.
The sitting room television is similiarly temperamental; it has a very limited number of terrestrial channels and will not always change channels, it just freezes.
The heating programmer is new but there are no instructions to go with it; somebody from Dreams had to come out 3 times to get it working properly.
The extractor fan in the downstairs toilet it not working.
The second bathroom, with the round bath, is unusable by an adult, although it might be fine for a 5-year old. It is too shallow for a grown up.
There were dirty utensils in the kitchen which had not been properly sorted and cleaned; we found a saucepan with an inch of oil/grease in the bottom of it, used for frying something, some time ago. Cleaners should have dealt with it.
Downstairs corner-shaped sofa is extremely uncomfortable, it is too big/deep for normal sized adults and the cushion arrangement is wierd.
There was only one clock in the whole house, over the door between the kitchen and sitting room. Fortunately, and aware that we had to be out of the cottage by 10am, we had brough a couple along, together with our mobile phones.
On the plus side, the pillows were excellent (not always the case in these cottages and I bring my own as a precaution).
We do this holiday break twice a year but it was sad to see Weymouth looking so uncared-for and the season had clearly already ended for a number of premises along the harbour.
Thank you for your feedback. The fridge freezer did need defrosting, this has now been done and is working again normally. The dishwasher does have a button on it which is a delay timer where you can set a variable number of hours before it will come on so perhaps you were inadvertently pressing this each time - the dishwasher does appear to be working normally. We have put some simple to use instructions above the thermostat in the hallway and the downstairs loo extractor fan has been replaced. Unfortunately, the local TV transmitter for Weymouth only sends out a limited number of channels (all the usual ones are there but not channel 5 and some of the other more recently launched ones also are not transmitted). The TV in the lounge is a smart one so many other channels can be accessed via the catch up apps. The bath is limited in space due to the shape of the room, we could not get a larger one in when this room was recently refurbished. An adult can use it but in all honesty, it is not possible to lie down in. We are sorry if you found dirty kitchen items in the cupboards. We do ask guests to properly clean such things before putting them away. Cleaners do check the cupboards but this is only done on a cursory basis, there simply isn't the time to get everything out of each kitchen cupboard - the arrival time would have to be pushed back even further to achieve this which is not practical. The corner sofa is a modern one from DFS, we have, since your booking had the base cushions upgraded with new foam as we did note that they were previously flattening down with use. We do provide a kitchen clock, there is also a clock on the DAB radio in the lounge. We don't think there is any need to provide more clocks in the property. We are bemused by your comments saying Weymouth looked uncared for - on the contrary, the Brewers Quay redevelopment is progressing (phase 1 is completed at the side and rear of Shire Horse Mews, they are now working on phase 2 which is the main building on Hope Square) the North harbourside has recently had the old railway lines removed and the area re-landscaped for better pedestrian use and added amenity space, the railings along the seafront have just been repainted and repairs/redecoration to the town bridge is in progress.
