Luke “This is our third year as a family staying at Mariners rest, which is like a home away from home.”
The property is in an ideal location, a short walk away from the seafront and off road parking makes coming and going easy. The property has always been clean and tidy and has everything you need to enjoy a comfortable break away. Would definitely book again.

Leigh “Fantastic house in a great location, 15mins walk to centre of town.”
House was clean and spacious with secure garden (ideal for pet owners).

John “Lovely house in a good location.”
Possible to work to the beach and into Weymouth town centre. Ideal for visiting beauty spots and other local towns. House was clean and well cared for. Parking was good.
- John, September 2024 -
Kathryn “This is our 3rd year stopping at Mariners Rest.”
Th accommodation is comfortable and clean. It is a stone’s throw away from the seafront and you can easily walk into the town. Having a designated parking space is also a bonus. It is definitely a accommodation I would recommend.

John “On arrival at the property the area around the front door needs a bit of TLC, key access was easy First impression of the property was good and the hot drinks pack was very welcome.”
Towels and linen were of a high quality and the bed was comfortable The lounge furniture was very comfortable and the TV was an appropriate size for the room. Unfortunately some of the crockery and cutlery were put away dirty and had not been checked by the cleaning company

Richard “A lovely stay in a great location, 5 minutes walk to the front and easy stroll to the lovely harbour.”
Property had all the usual facilities... and for once they provided a huge TV! A couple of pubs at the end of the road too!

Catherine “Wonderful holiday house!”
Had everything we could want. Two children had lovely room together and loved how close we were to the beach. Kitchen had everything we needed and living room was spacious and relaxing. Fantastic stay! Would recommend it

Lindsay “Perfect! This was our 3rd stay at Mariner's Rest and we'd definitely be staying there again!”
Would highly recommend. Such a lovely property - clean, bright, spacious, well equipped - a real "home from home". Quiet location, off-road parking out front and a lovely enclosed patio area (perfect for our week of sunshine!). Only a short walk to the beach and town centre, with plenty of shops and places to eat. Supermarkets just a 5-minute drive away! Thank you - as always, it's been amazing - we will be back!

Lorraine “Place filthy especially bathroom.”
Called Sykes Cottages who contacted owners cleaners had to come in as did electrician faulty light switch. Lights flashing like disco. Area property situated in very run down. There is very strange smell in lane where property situated. Lot of noise from flats opposite comings & goings all night.
- Lorraine, July 2024 -
Keith “Very well equipped & very comfortable.”
Lovely to have some outside space. The tea & biscuits on arrival was a nice surprise. Ideally located with parking all in all would stay at this property again.
- Keith, May 2024 -
Teresa “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mariner's Rest which was very comfortable and had everything we could possibly need.”
We were quite taken with the attention to detail such as the folder of useful information, the chest of games in the living room and the books and dvds in the television cupboard. Great thought had gone into providing all these little extras which added to the welcoming feeling we got from the minute we walked in.

Melanie “Great location, a very short walk to the seafront with is many shops, bar and restaurants.”
The Mariners Rest is located in a quiet road. It has off road parking to the front of the property with ample space for a large vehicle. Inside we found the accommodation to be pleasantly decorated, clean and very spacious. With all the amenities you would need. There is also a small private enclosed courtyard to the rear with patio furniture. We really enjoyed our holiday here and would not hesitate to book here again in the near future.
- Melanie, October 2023 -
Margaret “Quite a few stains on the carpets.”
Shower very mouldy. We would not rebook.
- Margaret, October 2023 -
Kathryn “This is our 2nd visit to Mariner’s Rest and it was as clean and comfortable as the 1st time.”
Bonus you can walk to the sea front from the accommodation. I would recommend this holiday accommodation if you wanted to visit beautiful Weymouth.
- Kathryn, September 2023 -
Walt “Excellent property clean and well equipped.”
Quiet neighborhood and only 10 minutes to beach and town.Couldn,t fault it. Only slight problem could be that it shares refuse bin with next door property and if a family of four were renting it could get overfull ,there was only 2 of us but we had a job to get our weeks refuse in.
- Walt, September 2023 -
Kyoko “Very clean and good location.”
We would like to come back again. Thank you. P.S. There is no dishwasher. But there were 2 bits of dishwasher detergent in the kitchen. Therefore I thought there was a dishwasher, so I looked it for.
- Kyoko, August 2023 -
Donna “Lots of dust and black dog hairs on bathroom/cloakroom floors and skirting boards”
- Donna, August 2023 -
Terri-lee “We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.”
However, the bathroom shower /bath needs a good scrub (I had to do this myself, before we could use it) Also, We booked because it was dog friendly, but when we cleaned the carpets on departure alot of the dog hair that was not from from our dog so the property could benefit from a stronger vacuum cleaner.
- Terri-lee, July 2023 -
Rachel “We had a lovely stay at Mariners Rest.”
The house was well equipped with everything we needed, it was clean, a great location and I liked the little personal touches such as books, dvds & games etc. Loved that it was in walking distance to the beach. Local supermarkets were only 5 minutes away. It felt like a home from home.
- Rachel, July 2023 -
Michael “The cottage was clean and in a good location but lacking in a few amenities (toilet rolls, kitchen roll, cleaning products (eg bleach), condiments), yes these can be purchased by the occupants, but after staying in many cottages over the years, it’s the first time we have had to go out and get these items.”
The description is also incorrect, its states gas hob but it is electric. Only the small oven worked which made cooking difficult this needs to be repaired or replaced especially if a family of 4 were staying there. Suggest the cottage has a guest book so that guests can let others know what they found locally that could benefit them (good and bad). Despite all the above comments, we did enjoy our stay and would recommend to others, but the owners should take note accordingly.
- Michael, July 2023 -
Jeremy Simon “A very comfortable, clean and tidy property.”
Super location, nice and quiet and close to the seafront, ideal location. Highly recommended. Many thanks Jeremy and Carole

Michael “The house was very clean, easy walk into the town, we personally did not find ...”
The house was very clean, easy walk into the town, we personally did not find the sofa's very comfortable, but that is the only problem that we had
- Michael, June 2023 -
Matthew “The house was lovley, sofas could be a little more comfortable, the guest in the a joining section were confused of where they should park caused a bit of a disagreement at the start probably needs marking out for clarification for the guest.”
- Matthew, May 2023 -
Anne “We enjoyed our stay very much.”
My only concern was that the garden light was on 24/7, and not "light sensitive" as stated. And we could not find a switch to turn it off. But it did not affect our enjoyment at all, it was just a waste of power for the owners.
- Anne, April 2023 -
Bryan “Lovely little holiday home, well kept and close to beach, local amenities and amusements, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle for a good sleep!”
- Bryan, April 2023 -
Kelly “A really comfortable stay in a house that functioned just like a family home.”
This was by far the best equipped rental we've stayed in with absolutely everything you might need for a family. Large rooms, lovely outside space, which was very secure and perfect for our dog. Warm, well decorated and very clean. Fantastic location a 5 minute walk from the main beach with supermarkets very close by. We'll definitely book again. Just a few points for the owners to consider: - Would be great to have heavier curtains/blackout blinds. - An outside washing line would be useful. - We only had two toilet rolls provided for a family of four for a week, some spares would have been welcome.
- Kelly, April 2023 -
Alison “Lovely house, great location with parking and enclosed garden, close to beaches and shops.”
However let down by lack of cleanliness. My two year old granddaughter managed to find a tablet left on the floor and was about to put it in her mouth. Luckily I saw her pick it up and stopped her. This could have had dangerous consequences.
- Alison, March 2023 -
Rosemary “The property was clean and quite comfortable (not a lover of leather sofas).”
It was well situated and convenient for shops, large and small as the major supermarkets are all within a short distance. Walking was easy to Weymouth town and beach, even further if you wanted. A problem with the cloakroom light switch was fixed quickly. On the negative side the bath could benefit from grab rails we both found it difficult to get out having used the shower. A shower cubicle would be better. The tv is old with no internet access to access iPlayer etc. No DVDs so the DVD player is useless. All in all we enjoyed our week and the weather was kind.
- Rosemary, September 2022 -
Mark “Downstairs toilet light didn’t work .”
Upstairs landing blind was stuck fully open . Recommend blackout curtains in the main bedroom. Really comfortable loads of space nice courtyard garden great location to the dog beach and close to the town and harbour . Property was tidy modern and spacious very comfortable would visit again.
- Mark, June 2022 -
Kathryn “We enjoyed our time at Mariners Rest.”
It was comfortable, quiet and bonus a parking place. We liked it so much we have booked it again for June 2023. It was also good to have an outside space to sit relax and enjoy the sun. An umbrella for the patio table would be a good idea so you had some shade when the temperature rises to hot, hot, hot. Weymouth is a lovely seaside resort and we were only 10 minutes away from the beach.
- Kathryn, June 2022 -
Gaynor “Nice house Cleanliness needs improvement Garden needs tidying up No outside ...”
Nice house Cleanliness needs improvement Garden needs tidying up No outside washing line to dry washing when nice sunny day Booked again for August 2022 Location is great nice walk into Weymouth town
- Gaynor, May 2022 -
Robin “A very comfortable cottage with a five minute walk to the sea in one direction and a five minute walk in the other direction to local shops.”
The only complaint was that the curtains and blinds were too thin and the glorious Weymouth sunshine woke us up at 5 am.
- Robin, May 2022 -
Jenny “The house was amazing, thank you.”
Everything we wanted & more. Clean & beautifully presented, we loved the special little themed touches too. Very comfortable & well equipped, a home from home. A great place to be based for so many places to visit & so close to Weymouth sea front. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
- Jenny, April 2022 -
Julia “Lovely house in a great location.”
The house was super clean and had some lovely touches like the bottle of fizz and the Christmas tree and decorations. The only thing letting it down was the garage conversion that is halfway finished. Lots of rubble outside, that whilst didn't spoil our stay it was a little bit of surprise as we pulled up, to the point we weren't sure it was the right house. Also, not sure if we could park in front of the garage. If we had known prior to arrival it would have helped. Would definitely return.
- Julia, December 2021 -
Susan “The cottage was lovely and the fact you have your own off road parking space right outside your front door is great.”
A few minutes walk to the beach and in a nice quiet area, so no late night noise. Secure garden for the dog as well. Would definitely recommend.
- Susan, September 2021 -
Tracey “Excellent location with 10/15 minute walk of town centre.”
Beautifully clean & comfortable. Well equipped home from home. With lovely private garden.
- Tracey, August 2021 -
Clare “The location of the property was perfect for us, within walking distance of everything we needed so the car didn’t have to move.”
. I think maybe the property itself could do with some tlc. Although beautiful on first appearances we did hit some problems along the way. And the building works front and rear from 8am were a little annoying.
- Clare, August 2021 -
Kim “Marina's rest is a fantastic place to stay, we have stayed twice now and loved both times.”
The house is lovely, spotlessly clean and has everything you need and being only a 5-10minute walk from the beach makes it even better. We would definately return.
- Kim, July 2021 -
Samantha “It might be an idea to let people know that there is a big building project going on opposite the front of the property, the noise started at around 8a.”
M and woke us most mornings. They had excavators and diggers and was generally quite noisy, luckily we went out for a fair portion of the day, but missed having holiday lie ins. The property is fantastic, clean, well equipped and garden is a real sun trap, we loved the location as well.
- Samantha, June 2021 -
Adriana “2nd time at Mariners Rest and it did not disappoint.”
This is a beautiful, comfortable home within 10 minutes walk from seafront. It has a fully enclosed garden for your dog and there is a newsagent, fish and chip shop etc within easy walking distance. I would happily stay here again. The house was immaculate. There was some building work adjacent to the property but this was not a problem and we had been told about it beforehand.
- Adriana, May 2021 -
Chris “The accommodation itself was ideal.”
Clean and spacious. On a one way quiet road woth off road parking. Owned by dream cottages which has its own shop situated in weymouth so.only a phone call away should you have any issues. Private secure garden for you dog. Everything you need fir a great get away.
- Chris, September 2020 -
Charles “Dustbin was full when we arrived not emptied during stay had leave refuse in property as no safe place to leave.”
Collection date not clear in property handbook fri/sat. Several lights not working left details, but otherwise a good property in a good location.
- Charles, September 2020 -
John “We had a wonderful time in Weymouth.”
The house was spacious, well equipped and clean throughout.Nice and quiet on a one-way street, close to all facilities and the beach front. A small park at the bottom of the lane for the pooch to have a wander and the dog beach about a fifteen minute walk away. Spot on.
- John, August 2020 -
Kim “Lovely property, excellent location, had a wonderful holiday.”
Really good customer care as needed to ring to have a broken toilet seat fixed all sorted within 24hrs. Would definatrly come back and recommend.
- Kim, July 2020 -
Louise “The property is clean and comfortable.”
A great location to just park up the car and explore Weymouth on foot with the dog.
- Louise, September 2019 -
Gaynor “We have used dream cottages for many years now and would recommend to anyone.”
They go to all expectations to make sure that your requirements are met.
- Gaynor, August 2019 -
Chris “Great location, had a great time”
- Chris, July 2019 -
Susan “We found the second bedroom very cramped and uncomfortable.”
It would have been better to describe this as a single bedroom only and to have opened the second front bedroom. Either rent the whole house out or state the house is for 3 only and remove the second bed from the small bedroom. One of the lamps in this room had no bulb. I looked for a spare in the cupboard under the stairs but there wasn't one. We only had one smallish car but felt parking would have been difficult if we had arrived in two separate cars.
- Susan, May 2019 -
Ian “We both really enjoyed staying at Mariners rest.”
The kitchen was so well equipped we could have been at home. We will definitely be staying here again. One small addition we would like to see. That is a handle on the wall at the end of the bath as my wife felt there was nothing to hold onto when getting out of bath/ shower
- Ian, March 2019 -
Julian “House is ideally placed for the town and seafront in a very quiet lane.”
Weather was very warm for the end of February so we were able to sit outside. It would be ideal in the summer.
- Julian, February 2019 -
