The property

Follis Cottage is converted stable situated in a quiet pretty area of Nottington, outside of Weymouth, next to the owner’s house.

It is well known locally for its Spa House - a hexagonal shaped property which can be seen from the grounds.

Follis Cottage can accommodate up to four guests in two bedrooms.

With dressing tables and two chairs in each room and large wardrobes that creates a comfy home atmosphere for a good night’s sleep. There is a large area of garden which guests can use and this is accessed via a gravelled pathway or car parking area. There is a ramp which can be used for wheel chair access to the cottage.

There is step free, level access once inside the cottage.

A separate laundry room can be accessed at the rear of the cottage. A cascading mill stream fronts many of the attractive stone and granite cottages which are part of the charm of the village.

Folklore relates to the tale of when the local inhabitants of Nottington were asked many moons ago if they would allow a village pub to be built - it was flatly refused.

A handy supermarket lies only a five-minute car journey away, a closer petrol station within walking distance provides the morning papers.

The historic county town of Dorchester is only five miles away and the beach at Weymouth with its golden sands only two miles.

The owners live within the grounds and are more than happy to offer advice and local knowledge when asked whilst respecting customer's privacy. The cottage offers a very good base to explore the beautiful Dorset countryside and the famous Jurassic Coast World Heritage site for a family or couples.

About the location

Nottington

Nottington is a village just outside Weymouth that historically used to possess a Spa and was therefore popular with the aristocracy, who flocked there to drink the water, claimed to be of benefit for eruptive complaints and loss of appetite. What remains of this time today is the pump room which is known as the Spa house. Just 3 miles from the Georgian seaside town of Weymouth, this village is perfect for those wanting to explore South Dorset. Weymouth boasts an award winning beach, with golden sands and shallow waters, coupled with a Georgian seafront steeped in history. There are many restaurants and café’s where you sample Dorset’s finest seafood. 6 miles to the north is the County town of Dorchester that offers where you can find the County Museum, The Teddy bear Museum, Max Gate, Thomas Hardy’s 19th Century former house.
