“The location of Harbour View Bungalow is perfect, a few minutes walk to the main harbour and beach, unfortunately that's where the positives end.”

I can understand that this is a much loved family home but as a holiday home charging a lot of money at this time of year for a week it falls way short of what is expected. The bungalow could do with a bit of an overhaul The kitchen is very dark due to a large fridge/freezer and bookcase blocking a window. The sofas need replacing as a priority (I note that on previous feedback that this has been mentioned quite a few times but they have still not been replaced), they are painful to sit in. ...

Carpets need replacing, bed linen need replacing (mattress protectors are torn) and most mattresses are lumpy and uncomfortable. Whilst the outside grass area was acceptable for children, the back gate was off the hinges (we had to try to secure this for safety - again a previous comment mentioned this but it had still not be fixed), the bungalow is surrounded by vast amounts of detritus, along with not being able to open windows or doors due to rats which made the outside space more or less unusable.

Thank you for your constructive feedback. Always good to hear if something is not as envisaged. Kitchen: Actually the window that is blocked provides very little light. We discovered very late in the season that our under the counter freezer was not working. At great expense we bought an American style fridge freezer complete with in-built Internet and ice making facilities. We wrote to all owners prior to their visit that ice making facilities were free and copious. The bookcase is full of cookery books - we have many returning guests who love our kitchen for its size and versatility. Yes, it would be lovely to re-design the kitchen but we feel that the free ice, free filtered water, free coffee, free tea bags, waste disposal bags, free dishwasher tablets, modern range cooker more than outweighs the loss of the small window. We do accept that the sofas are a problem - unfortunately large people just drop themselves into the springs and break them. We have not been able to identify a decent replacement that compliments the lounge but also provides the same sort of comfort that these sofas used to provide - we are on the case. The Bungalow is fully carpeted which is unusual for a holiday let. We have to provide throwaway carpets to help reduce the wear and tear on the main carpet. We also wash the main carpet twice a year. Again, unfortunately we suffer from spillages arising from holidaymakers drinks. Once we suffered a holidaymaker allowing their child to make a mud sandcastle on the main carpet. Bed linen: we have three sets of bed linen and one set is replaced every year. It's very possible that one protector may have been torn - these are replaced annually anyway. We would question your statement regarding most mattresses were bumpy - the single bed mattresses were replaced in 2020 and the master bedroom bed (Kingsize) was replaced in 2023. We do not have a back gate - we installed a white fence to stop holidaymakers driving their cars on to the patio area. We provide a removeable fence section for owners that want to stop young children from escaping. In particular this route has to remain open for our many disabled visitors that enjoy the ability to roam around the outside fairly free of obstacles. Vast amounts of detritus is an interesting statement - I do employ a gardener to mow the garden, sweep paths and clear rubbish left by guests. If you are referring to things like logs/branches, dismantled garage, pile of bricks - that's not detritus. I have been trying for years to build a garage but fail. Rats: our bungalow is in the middle of a park - people, including our guests, feed the squirrels and birds - left over food attracts rats and corvids. Unfortunately for me the squirrels have been encouraged to come into the bungalow by guests. We installed a screen to the conservatory to try and stop the squirrels from entering the property - several times we found this screen removed. This feeding of squirrels attracts rats as well. The local council deploy rat traps around our bungalow - sadly they do not check them frequently and keep the rat bait fresh. A bit of an exaggeration to say you could not open windows but i would agree with you that I would not be happy with doors being left open as rat, squirrels, unwelcome guests will get in. It's a shame you did not mention the top of the range washing machine where we provide free washing liquid - or the 55 inch television in the lounge and TV's in all bedrooms and the conservatory or the children's play house on the decking (which was replaced last year) or the whirlpool/bubble bath and of course the parking for up to 6 cars. Thanks again for the feedback though Cheers Roger Property Owner
