“We really enjoyed our week at Portland Pebble!”

The accomodation was excellent and the owners were very helpful in dealing with any queries. It was a joy to be so close to the sea! There was a lot of activity taking place in the bay, with windsurfers and the brave cold water swimmers! It was an ideal base to visit other nearby places and a pleasant route for walkers and cyclists from our door along the coast towards Weymouth.

The accomodation was excellent and the owners were very helpful in dealing with any queries. It was a joy to be so close to the sea! There was a lot of activity taking place in the bay, with windsurfers and the brave cold water swimmers! It was an ideal base to visit other nearby places and a pleasant route for walkers and cyclists from our door along the coast towards Weymouth.

“Amazing setting overlooking Smallmouth Cove, just idyllic to wake up and sit on the bedroom balcony, watching the early morning swimmers and boats.”

The home was so lovely, beautifully furnished with high quality appliances - very impressive. The owners lived nearby and were so friendly, offering lots of advice and recommendations if you needed it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. Centrally located to visit lots of places along the coast. Thank you for a fabulous stay. Absolutely beautiful....we will be back!!

“Appeared clean on arrival, on closer inspection noticed hair etc on floor of bedrooms and bathrooms, marks in bath and sinks and a smell in fridge and dishwasher but we were happy to clean it ourselves rather than bother the owner.”

Beds were comfortable, although second floor bed felt like a small double and shame the twin bedroom doesn't have a small tv as other two have. Views were outstanding with fantastic balcony and velux windows, looking out over Portland. Could happily spend hours looking out at that vista! Perfect location for making use of the bay outside and surrounding areas. Overall would happily stay here again.

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay but I do wish you had contacted me with your issues on our telephone number supplied in the information pack. With regards to the odour in fridge and dishwasher I can only assume this was the cleaning material used as both were cleaned thoroughly. We do only have 4 TV’s at the property and were advised against putting one in the twin room as this is mostly used by children. There are marks in the bath but these are because it had been chipped by previous guests and we had it repaired professionally but there is a slight difference in colour. The bed in the upstairs bedroom is a 4’6” double I cannot explain the hair you found as great care is taken to thoroughly clean the property after every departure. Regards Paul and Lorraine. “We had a fantastic week despite the weather.”

The house was perfectly located opposite a small bay which was great for our 2 year old granddaughter. The views from the front were stunning. The house is the best equipped house we have ever rented. We had two small problems with appliances which were rectified within the hour by the agents - fantastic service thank you. All the beds (new as we could see) as well as the settees were extremely comfortable and we couldn't have asked for more. Thanks for a fantastic stay.

“The property was beautiful the location was beautiful we went for a rest but the beds and pillows are knackered.”

New mattresses and pillows would have give us all a restful sleep not neck and back aches. We also booked for a 10 month baby but no high chair was provided. We also booked for a 4 year old and there wasn’t any plastic plates or bowls . We had to wash dishes after using dishwasher as it needs a good clean . Apart from that it’s a beautiful home but not for us with a young family. Home now and very tired and ached from the beds

“What a perfect property for six of us.”

The teenagers loved the loft and the other bedrooms were great for the parents and grandparents. We were lucky enough to have the bedroom with the balcony - what a beautiful view and lovely to sit in the sun on an afternoon. Downstairs there is plenty of room for everyone to have space. The garden is nice and private for your morning coffee. Easily accessible to Weymouth and a lovely walk if you wish. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The property

Portland Pebble is a wonderful three-story semi-detached house sitting in Wyke Regis, Dorset.

Portland Pebble is a lovely seaside hideaway for a family of six, with spectacular sea views and pristine beaches just moments away!

When you get to the house, you'll be relieved to discover an off-road parking place in front of the garage, ensuring easy unloading of your belongings.

Inside, you'll be greeted with a magnificent living area with stylish, leather seating settled in front of a toasty electric fire and TV.

Continue to the fantastic open-plan living space, where Velux windows flood the room with natural light, accentuating the sophisticated fixtures and furniture.

Settle back on the sofa and watch some more TV, or stroll over to the kitchen, which has elegant cabinets and a slew of integrated appliances.

After the appointed chef has prepared a lovely dinner in the kitchen, enjoy it together over a bottle of wine at the six-seater dining table.

After your meal, return to the sitting spaces, or if you want to get some work done, retire to the study.

As the day fades to dusk, make your way upstairs to find two of the three fantastic bedrooms on the first floor, the first of which is of which is a double with its own TV and a balcony, and the other of which is a twin room; perfect for the kids!

Climb the stairs once more to reach the stunning second-floor double; here, you may relax in front of the enormous skylights and take in the sea views before enjoying a rejuvenating rinse in the en-suite shower room!

A well-presented family bathroom completes the property's interior, with tiling adorning the floors and walls, as well as a bath offering relaxing soaks in the bubbles.

Outside, you'll find a delightful walled garden where you may spend many hours reclining in the sun on the deck chairs.

The lovely beaches of Smallmouth Bay are a stone's throw away from the property, as well as a range of eateries, including the welcoming Wyke Smugglers pub!

Continue along the South West Coastal Path to Weymouth, home to a fantastic selection of attractions, including the historic Nothe Fort, fascinating SEA LIFE, and Sandworld; additionally, the town features a magnificent beach and RSPB areas, making it a picturesque outing for everyone!

Travel in the other direction to find the famed sands of Chesil Beach, along with the Isle of Portland, an isle that not only provides a variety of magnificent landscapes and hikes, but is also deep in history, which can be seen at Portland Museum and Portland Castle.

Further inland, you'll discover the Dorset AONB, which has abundance of unspoiled rural and seaside landscapes to explore.

WYKE REGIS

Weymouth 2 miles; Dorchester 9 miles.

Wyke Regis is a village on the south western side of Weymouth that sits on the northern edges of Portland Harbour and reaches as far as the back of Chesil beach and The Fleet, just two miles from the centre of Weymouth. There are local shops, cafés and restaurants including the famous Crab House café, with it’s own oyster beds on the doorstep. The National Sailing School, an Olympic legacy, offers a wide variety of water sports and is just two miles away on the edge of Portland Harbour. The Fleet Lagoon that runs between Wyke Regis and Chesil beach is an important area for wildlife and there are many species of birds to be seen in the area, whilst Chesil beach is also a renowned spot for fishing. The Fleet is probably most famous for being the testing ground for Barnes Wallis’s bouncing bomb, immortalised in the film the Dam Busters. Wyke Regis is the perfect location from which to explore many of Dorset’s most iconic locations on the Jurassic Coast.
