    “This was a wonderful and clean property - practical and quirky, designed to a high standard with everything you could possibly need for a holiday or short break.”

    The kitchen was extremely well stocked with good appliances, crockery, glasses and cutlery, as well as an extensive stock of cooking equipment. The scones, clotted cream and jam were a lovely touch upon arrival. My priorities when booking any holiday home are the comfort of the bed, the shower, having a washing machine, parking, and good WiFi. The washing machine was excellent with a wide range of programmes and likewise the WiFi was fast for both downloading and streaming. No problems ...

And there is lots of parking either outside the lodge or at the front of the main property. The shower was electric and although it was hot it wasn't very powerful, but that was OK as it is only for a short time and what I would expect from an electric shower. The only thing that I didn't like was the double bed as I found it uncomfortable - too hard for my taste. Many people, I am sure will find it fine, as did my partner, but this was the only problem for me in an otherwise spotless and well-equipped property. Drimpton itself is a lovely little village with a friendly and welcoming pub serving great food from an extensive menu. Shopping is best done in either Bridport or Beaminster, or slightly further afield in Chard, as there is no store in the village, so best to come with a few supplies to see you through the first day or two if you aren't planning on venturing out.

The property

Brookfield Lodge is a wonderful ground-floor holiday home set in the small village of Drimpton found in the beautiful rural West Dorset, just under 5-miles away from the bustling town of Beaminster.

This property is perfect for a small family or group of friends looking to enjoy the country delights of Dorset, with a special emphasis on being suitable for those in wheelchairs as it is ground-floor and has a wet room.

An open-plan living space provides you with a great social space to enjoy each others time; a dining table sits opposite the kitchen perfect for watching on with a glass of wine while the chefs do their thing in the kitchen.

Make use of the good range of appliances for cooking up tasty dishes, before retiring to the sitting area to go over the days events and wind down for the evening.

The sitting room overlooks the lovely garden through the patio doors, onto the patio which has seating for sitting out and soaking up the rays on a sunny day.

The property is set within the grounds of the owner's home, and benefits from a lawned garden area as well with a barbecue for a summer occasion, overlooking the paddocks where the owner's horses graze.

The bedrooms consist of a double room with en-suite shower room, and a twin room, with a wet room serving them both as well.

A special feature of this property is its games room, complete with fantastic games for everyone's entertainment and fun, including a ping pong table and a table football, to take part in some healthy competitions!

This area is perfect for walking and cycling, with rural routes down country lanes, or trekking across footpaths and trails, while the Jurassic Coast is within easy driving distance to experience some incredible landscapes and vistas.

Bridport 6 miles; Crewkerne 7 miles; Lyme Regis 15 miles.

The attractive country town of Beaminster nestles beneath the rolling West Dorset downland within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Around its square is the Conservation Area which boasts over 200 Grade II listed buildings, many of which are built from mellow hamstone. This thriving rural community offers a good selection of shops, inns and restaurants, whilst each summer hosts a popular music and arts festival. The local area abounds in a network of footpaths, one leads to the village of Netherbury, the site of the original River Cottage TV programme. An easy drive takes you to the lively market town of Bridport and to West Bay (TV's Broadchurch) on Dorset's stunning Jurassic Coast, whilst Lyme Regis, Dorchester and Weymouth are all easily accessible.
