Very clean and well stocked, with everything required for a holiday! Great location for exploring, not only Dorset, but Somerset, Devon and Wiltshire too! Really lovely views from the cottage. Would certainly recommend. In a small hamlet, not near any local shops, but Tesco store only a 10 minute drive, so no problem!

We had a gorgeous stay at The Studio in July.

The place and the facilities were brilliant and it was so homely! We absolutely loved it and will definitely return at some point! Lovely little stay to have a relaxing and refreshing break away in the countryside.

Lovely Studio, very well equiped, great view and a warm welcome with the table set and yummy biscuits.

Lots of information (brochures and maps) to make the most of your stay. The shower ceiling is somewhat low for tall persons.

This lovely little studio is clean and very well equipped with all that is needed.

The property owners left us a little Easter treat which was a lovely, unexpected touch that made us smile. Location is very nice giving the properly great views. Ample parking space, however joining the main road from the property can be a bit difficult due to it being on a blind bend. We had no issues pulling out onto the road during our stay, just have to be careful. Highly recommended this studio.

The Studio is a pretty addition but has flaws which might be overlooked in the summer - more difficult with poor weather.

the main door is in fact just shutters - the fit is as you would expect with shutters and has many gaps. the main issue though is that there is no light coming in making the downstairs incredibly claustrophobic. a simple set of french doors would transform the downstairs. Upstairs is really pretty. Mattress could do with an upgrade

A most hospitable and caring couple. They helped us out in a spot of bother and went well above and beyond what most people would have done. The home is super cosy and very clean. We will be recommending this to all of our family and friends.

It was only the parking which made it difficult to see what was coming round a blind bend,apart from that a lovely stay .

We had a really lovely time at The Studio.

It was very clean and warm and the view from the bedroom window was magical. With the area not being light polluted the sky was awash with stars. Lots and lots of things to see and do in the area and people were very friendly. A fabulous little jewel of a place that we were sad to leave.

A wonderful little place to stay - peaceful, comfortable, with everything needed for a base to visit surrounding places.

We would highly recommend The Studio, and hope to return for another visit.

We enjoyed our seven day stay at The Studio.

This delightful little cottage was full of charm and everything we could wish for including a very comfortable bed. We have caught up with old friends, cried with the locals at Melbury Community Hall as England lost to Spain in Euros 2024 and visited pretty Larner Tree Gardens and Stourhead NT, both of which were stunning in their own way. Many thanks to our hosts who welcomed us with afternoon tea and made us feel at home.

The Cottage was lovely just like the photo the owners are lovely friendly people who leave you alone too enjoy your holiday.

But are there if you need them. When we arrived the table was set for cream tea which was a lovely touch . I would recommend this studio highly it’s home from home and a very comfortable stay. You can see the deer in the field and pheasants

Lovely place to stay, clean and tidy with everything you may need for a short stay/vacation.

Nature around is lovely and Shaftesbury is really close for shopping, dining etc The only 'difficulty' we had -and this has nothing to do with The Studio or the owners- is that the neighbourhood around is too dark at night with no public lights at all so you need to be careful and have a torch to walk around or walk your dog, if you have one. Overall, a beautiful place in a picturesque location, ideal for a break from our busy lives!

This place is heaven, we stayed there 4 magical days, beautiful views, lovely cottage.

I really enjoyed staying here with my husband. You can find everything you need driving 5 minutes from The Studio. Thank you

Only constructive criticism we had was because we did cook our main meals there wasn't a set of saucepans with lids & frying pan wasn't safe as it moved on cooker because the base was domed.

but all appliances were very clean & modern.nice enclosed space for our dog. enjoyable stay overall. Mr & Mrs Beer (Kent)

Cosy and comfortable accommodation and well situated for Shaftesbury.

Comfy sofa and bed with lovely bed linen. Some road noise particularly at peak times. Agree parking spot is awkward on a blind bend - a mirror would help make driving onto the road safer especially with the advent of (quiet) electric vehicles.

Really enjoyed our stay very comfortable no clothes for cleaning when we left and wanted to trim the plants and bushes at the back only down side was the parking very dangerous for coming in and out

This is our second stay at the Studio because we enjoyed our first stay so much.

The views from upstairs are amazing, and we found our whole stay very relaxing. Our only slight problem is with the television (which is probably just us). But during both visits, the owner of the property (apologies I can’t remember his name) came straight around to show us exactly what to do. During our first visit, we got the gist of the TV during our second visit - we didn’t. But to be honest we didn’t really need the TV as we are not avid TV watchers.

a delightful tiny cottage, too small to contain dishwasher but comfortable, in excellent decorative condition and very clean.

I have never had such luxurious towels. On a corner the parking space was very small and just on the verge of the road. It was important to leave the car facing North.

The Studio was a lovely little cottage that was equipped with everything we needed.

The bed and sofa were very comfortable. Had we been staying in colder weather, I do not think the storage heaters would have been sufficient. We couldn't get the upstairs one to come on at all. Everything else was great though. Thank you for a very comfortable and enjoyable short stay.

Fantastic location.

Spotlessly clean. Incredibly comfortable. A lovely, private studio with beautiful views. Great location to visit North Dorset which has a wealth of National Trust locations and fabulous walks. Hope to return soon.

The Studio was an ideal base for us and our dog, to discover Dorset.

The property was very well presented, came stocked with everything you could ask for in a self catering property and the welcome table set for afternoon tea, with local biscuits, was very thoughtful. The upstairs view across the countryside was beautiful. The lounge area was a good space to relax in the evening and a super comfortable bed ensured a great night’s sleep too. NB. The car parking space is a bit tight, take care when parking . Many thanks to Penny and Nigel

Spectacular views over the country side lovely walks love the wildlife deer and birds every thing to hand tv a bit temperamental but was sorted promptly.

A really great location, the cat parking space was a bit difficult as the road is quite fast, but everything was fantastic apart from that.

Lovely stay at the Studio.

The property is spotlessly clean and everything you need is supplied (no need to bring anything). You can make a cup of tea when you arrive as Penny makes sure you have fresh milk, even fresh flowers on the table & if you are bringing a pet a supply of dog treats. On a separate note the shower did not have much pressure and wifi was very slow. Just my own personal opinion and is not meant as a criticism as the property is lovely and comfortable. We were visiting friends and know the area well but if you need any help Penny is there to assist. Would highly recommend this property and thank you Penny for a lovely stay.

It's a very comfortable and quiet cottage and we enjoyed our short stay, although we had a few recurring problems with the TV and it wasn't always easy to contact the owners on their phones.

Problems were eventually resolved though.

The Studio is simply lovely, very warm and welcoming, will definitely be staying there again very soon.

All your needs catered for views beautiful from Juliet balcony. Just 1 little issue the toilet is down stairs, some older couples need to go to the toilet at night may be a small sensor plug in to guide your way at night Would be useful. Can't wait to return in summer

The Studio is well equipped and as shown in the images.

Had the weather been warmer, I'm sure we would have sat outside more, the yard is a sun trap in the afternoon. The Studio is also a good location for visiting a number of historic sites and the coast. We packed a lot into our week here. My only disappointment with the property was the traffic noise. I'd incorrectly assumed this would be a quiet location but the adjacent road turned out to be busy. This was my error, but I was glad that we hadn't taken our dog as I wouldn't have fancied walking along the road to get on to nearby public footpaths.

A great location for exploring the history of the area.

There’s plenty of history to see too. Access to National Trust and English Heritage properties close by.

Such a peaceful location and situated in the perfect spot to explore Dorset and the New Forest. Will be back!

A beautiful setting for a very comfortable cottage with everything you needed.

Had a little difficulty finding the property as wasn't aware it was actually on the bend and you park in front of the house but fine once you know!

Good location for visiting other places of interest in the area.

Although the weather was extreme with Gales the property was very draughty.

This probably wouldn’t be a problem the majority of the time, but if rented during the colder months when wind is more likely it may result in negative feed. We had to keep the curtains drawn and position cushions to help, so maybe the balcony window could have better insulation and fittings as the top lock kept popping open. Otherwise this was a very quaint property, perfect for two on a lower budget. Also a perfect location for exploring the coast and gardens nearby. Lulworth Cove and the national trust property at Stourhead are a must.

The Studio is a little gem, cosy and we'll equipped ideally situated for exploring Shaftesbury and surrounding area , in easy reach of the south coast and the new forest, Only observation the studio is set on two levels and may be an issue for someone mobility issues.

For people that like to cook it would be good to have some serving spoons and a roasting dish.

We took our own and a large casserole dish. It needs a mirror so you can see what is coming around the corner as you have to reverse out on top of a blind bend.

It’s lovely accommodation just for two, which is quite hard to get.

Facilities are good, we cooked ‘at home’ every night & watched deer in the fields at the back from the juliet bedroom window or sat in the private yard & watched the sun go down. A relaxing & very pleasant stay. In easy reach of lots of interesting days out & Shaftesbury itself is very pretty. We recommend going up to Compton Abbas airfield for breakfast with a view.

! Super clean and comfortable. Great location to explore the surrounding villages, towns and cities. Well equipped kitchen and spotless shower room. Lovely views from the Juliet balcony. Nothing too much trouble for the hosts..

The Studio was very cosy, comfortable bed & new settee all the amenities you need, beautiful views, we met the owners very nice people, left you alone to enjoy your stay, once they just introduced themselves and the only other time we really saw them was to offer us fresh bedding and towels.

We would recommend the Studio and would like to return their ourselves in the future.

We enjoyed our stay at the Studio, it was exactly as described, exceptionally clean and tidy, the little extras was welcoming.

Kitchen well equipt, very clean. The courtyard garden over looking the fields and familys ponies is a suntrap and we spent our evenings relaxing here after spending the days visiting, Weymouth, Bournemouth Poole and local beauty spots and more outstanding views. Penny and family were lovely. Highly recommend the Studio, will definatley return. 5* Thank you Penny x

Location good with amazing views from the studio, well presented and equipped.

Details on studio misleading as there is not any seating area downstairs apart from the kitchen chairs , settee upstairs which was very uncomfortable it needed padding out under the seats as sunk in the middle. Double doors needs draught proofing as could see daylight through the middle and bottom the cold wind was blowing through so unable to sit at kitchen table to have a meal. I took my dog and as they are not allowed upstairs which is understandable if it was just a bedroom but as its the main living quarters its a bit unfair for the dog to be left downstairs. otherwise a pleasant stay.

So thoughtful and nice touches- for example the table was already set for us when we arrived! We would recommend it to everyone and didn’t want to leave!!

You are unable to sit on the red sofa that appears in the photos.

It is a sofa bed and when you sit on the sofa all you can feels is the metal frame - to be honest the sofa is only fit for the rubbish tip. I would recommend that the couple who own the studio ( they are an extremely nice couple ) spend a night living there to see what might need replacing.

We found our stay a perfect base for visiting all the places we wanted to see .
